Live Update: My Life Is Still A Mess And That's Ok

I am not here to shove my religion down your throat or make ya' feel like your worldview is all wrong.

I think that is something that often gets forgotten in the midst of all the the talk that some refer to as "Christianese". (Christianese= terms that are thrown around amongst the Christian community such as "fellowship", "secular", etc.)

It is easy to throw terms around about how much "fellowship" is happening or how much "community" is being built. Don't get me wrong, I love forming new friendships as much as the next person, but somewhere down the road I have caught myself in the wrong.

When I recently went home for the summer, I realized that I am so dang comfortable in certain places. I feel super safe when I am surrounded by people who share my beliefs and have almost forgotten that there is a large portion of people who don't agree with me.

I was slapped in the face with the reminder that I NEED an adjustment. I have got to listen to people and hear them out if I expect them to do the same for me.

I hope that I am never too caught up in seeming like I am living life put together that I forget to be genuine. I hope I am never so used to be surrounded by Christians that I am so comfortable in using all those "Christianese" terms.

You see, I am guilty of sitting in my comfort zone and just surrounding myself with people who believe what I do. While it is necessary to have friends who can help ya' in your faith, it is also necessary to listen to others and let yourself get to know why someone believes what they do.

I don't think Jesus would want me to sit in a place of comfort forever and I think I have already sat in comfort for too long.

So if ya' want to join me, let's get outside of those zones and actually build relationships with people regardless of their race, their worldview, their beliefs, or their gender. There is a great big world out there and I want to know all the souls that I believe God created, regardless of whether they agree with me or not.

My name is Shannon I don't have it all together. I personally believe that God is fully in control of my life. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I believe that I have got a LOT of work to do in order to become the girl God needs me to be.

Most importantly, I want to hear your story, regardless of what you believe.
